Registration of SoHO Entities

EN SoHO-yksikön rekisteröityminen (johdanto)

This page provides information on who is required to register as a SoHO entity under the SoHO Regulation, how and when registration must be completed, and what information must be submitted as part of the registration process.

Pursuant to Article 35 of the EU SoHO Regulation, entities performing activities involving substances of human origin (SoHO) must formally register as a SoHO entity. In Finland, SoHO entities register by submitting their registration information to Fimea. The registration details will be published on the EU SoHO Platform.

Registration of SoHO entities will begin on 1 January 2027. Registration is free of charge if the notification is submitted to Fimea before 7 August 2027. Entities already in operation must register by 8 November 2027 at the latest.

Facilities that perform activities of a SoHO establishment require an authorisation. New SoHO establishments will register as part of the authorisation procedure from 7 August 2027 onwards. Fimea will provide further guidance on this procedure on its website in spring 2027.

Tissue establishments and blood establishments that have already been authorised under the current Blood and Tissues and Cells Directives (2002/98/EC and 2004/23/EC) are not required to register again. Their information will be transferred directly to the EU Platform.
