A special permit will be granted whenever a product with marketing authorisation is unavailable for the treatment or prevention of a disease, and the veterinarian can present special veterinary medical grounds for product use. A special permit may also be granted for a substitute product if there are supply problems with a product with marketing authorisation. If a product with marketing authorisation is unavailable on the markets, a special permit may be granted (see above).
