Blood as a starting material for medicines

Various medicinal products can be prepared from plasma and serum. For example, coagulation factors isolated from plasma and immunoglobulins already have an established therapeutic status. In addition, plasma and serum have also been used in other medicine applications. Collection of blood or blood components as a starting material for medicinal products requires a Blood Establishment licence granted by Fimea. For these products, it should be noted that any adverse reactions should be reported as medicine’s adverse reactions to Fimea.
