Finnish National Medicines Day 2018 viewpoints opened by Minister Pirkko Mattila

Rational, or responsible, medicine use is important to all of us on any day. But why is it important? And what exactly is rational medicine use? And why are we talking about rational medicine use at this very moment? All these questions will be answered on the video by Minister of Social Affairs and Health Pirkko Mattila.

This year, the Viewpoints of the Finnish National Medicines Day will be primarily published in the form of videos on which healthcare professionals and students, patient organisations and the users of medicines talk about rational medicine use and its implementation from their own points of view. The videos will be primarily published on Fimea’s YouTube account and on the Finnish National Medicines Day website, from which they can be shared further.

New on the website, also event calendar opened

The forthcoming ‘Suitable Medicine’ campaign aimed at the general public was presented in the event targeted at the national planning group of the Finnish National Medicines Day and communications professionals in the pharmaceutical sector that was held at the House of the Estates 16 January 2018. The website of the Finnish National Medicines Day has been updated with the campaign outlook and a nationwide event calendar has been opened.

A separate newsletter in Finnish will be published for those interested in arranging the events of the Finnish National Medicines Day that can be subscribed from the Fimea website. Join the Finnish National Medicines Day to promote rational medicine use with the support of the campaign.

‘Suitable Medicine’ campaign launched in connection with Finnish National Medicines Day

The Finnish National Medicines Day is a nationwide theme day for citizens and healthcare professionals alike, arranged this year on 22 March 2018 under the theme ‘rational medicine use’. Fimea coordinates the national planning of the event in collaboration with the planning group.

Planned as part of the Rational Pharmacotherapy Action Plan, the ‘Suitable Medicine’ campaign for the general public will be launched to support the local events. Responsible for the campaign are the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and Fimea.
