Miia Turpeinen appointed Director of Fimea's Safety and Effectiveness area of responsibility

Specialist in Health Care and Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, Doctor of Medical Science, EMBA Miia Turpeinen has been appointed as the new Director of the Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea's Safety and Effectiveness area of responsibility. She will start in her position on 1 May 2022.

Miia Turpeinen currently works as a chief research and assessment physician in the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District and as a part-time professor at the University of Oulu.

Turpeinen will lead Fimea's Safety and Effectiveness area of responsibility in accordance with the restructured organisation. The area of responsibility includes, for example, operations related to the safety of medicines and patients, supervision of clinical trials and HTA assessment.
