Piia Vuorela appointed Director of Fimea's Safety and Effectiveness area of responsibility

Piia Vuorela, M.Sc. (Econ.), M.D., Docent of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been appointed Director of the Safety and Effectiveness area of responsibility at the Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea. She will start in her position on 1 August 2022.

Vuorela currently works as a health and social services expert at Sofigate Oy. She has previously worked as Chief Administrative Physician for the Vantaa-Kerava wellbeing services county’s health and social services reform project and as Director of Health Services for the City of Vantaa.

The Safety and Effectiveness area of responsibility includes activities related to pharmaceutical and patient safety, supervision of clinical trials and HTA assessments.
