In addition to its roles as a licensing and supervisory authority, the Finnish Medicines Agency (Fimea) also has the statutory duties of national coordination and research in the pharmaceutical sector and assessment of pharmacotherapies. In its research and development activities, Fimea cooperates with other authorities, universities, research institutions, social welfare and health care units and other actors in the sector, both nationally and internationally.
