The Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea’s sustainability report for 2024 has been published.

Fimea’s social responsibility is based on our statutory duties, and as part of central government, we strive to ensure the sustainable development of society in accordance with the UN Agenda 2030. We aim at safeguarding the well-being of the population and services.

“In recent years, changes in the state of global security have been the topic of much discussion in Finland and around the world. We are facing new threats and challenges, and we need to continue building an organisation where we can effectively carry out our tasks, both in everyday circumstances and in the event of any disruptions,” states Director General Eija Pelkonen.

The report also explains the footprint of our operations, or the direct impact that our activities have on the environment, people and society. Fimea’s objective is to eliminate or reduce negative impacts.

“In 2024, Fimea succeeded in improving the efficiency of its operations and balancing them and was thus able to offer a stable partnership to our stakeholders and a peaceful work environment to our employees,” Pelkonen explains.

Our work in 2025 will continue with the objective of safe, accessible and rationally used medicines and medical products.
